Review made using my own purchased copy.

If you’re looking for a unique gaming experience, then Gris may be your next port of call.

The game itself focuses upon a celestial female called Gris. I’m uncertain as to what the full story is, (I guess players are left to use their imagination) but something happens which causes Gris to fall onto a planet which is void of colour. Her mission is to restore the earth’s colour and return to the place from which she fell. The adventure is an emotive pictorial representation of Gris’ “journey through sorrow”.

Gris is a simple platform adventure game with puzzle elements. The player must explore each environment and collect stranded stars to open up new areas and abilities.

The game’s uniqueness comes from the fact that it was designed to be a treat for the senses. Its artistic design is visually stunning, whereas soundwise, Gris is a treat for one’s ears. The game brims with life and imagination and at times looks utterly breathtaking.

My favourite moments have been those unexpected moments where Gris is catapulted into the air with glowing celestial bodies in the background, or swimming through dark watery caves and experiencing what’s probably the biggest shock the game has to offer.

I managed to complete the game in about 4 hours, but I’ve still had fun, and I’ll continue to play in order to find remaining unlockables.

I wholeheartedly recommend Gris to anyone that’s looking for a short artistic adventure. Some may complain about the £14.49 price tag, but four hours is still longer than most movies which are sold for a similar price.

I like it a lot!
