Gimmick! 2 – September 5th

upcoming switch games

In Gimmick! 2, you once again meet the green little yokai Yumetaro. Decades after his first adventure, he sets out on a new quest in a world packed with interesting challenges, dangerous enemies, and hidden treasures.
The game can be played in either a friendlier assisted mode or, if you’re up for a challenge, play in the true-to-the-original “Gimmick!” mode!

James reviewed Gimmick! 2 and Liked it a Lot, saying:

Gimmick! 2 is everything a sequel to the original classic should be. It takes the core elements that made the first game special and builds on them with refined graphics, improved level design, and a charming presentation that outshines the original in every way. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel or introduce groundbreaking new ideas, it does what it sets out to do exceptionally well. This is an easy recommendation for fans of retro platformers, and I’d even go as far as to recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good gaming experience.

Yars Rising – September 10th

Upcoming switch Games Yars rising

From the renowned development studio, WayForward Technologies, Inc. (Shantae, River City Girls, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp) comes Yars Rising, a 2D action-adventure exploration of one of Atari’s richest and best-known classic titles.

In WayForward’s experienced hands, the Yars franchise becomes an expansive mystery solved through 2D platforming action. Take control of the young hacker Emi Kimura, who a mysterious patron hires to infiltrate the shadowy QoTech corporation. Run, jump, sneak, and hack your way through challenges as you slowly unravel a complex secret shrouded in intrigue.

Emi grows in power throughout her adventure, allowing her to retrace her steps and reach previously inaccessible and secret areas. Her evolving hacking skills are critical to solving stimulating minigames that reference the innovative gameplay from the Atari 2600 title Yars’ Revenge.

James reviewed Yars Rising and liked it a lot; he had this to say in his conclusion:

Yars Rising is a fantastic action-adventure game that brings back the charm of the original while adding fresh, modern gameplay elements. WayForward’s signature style is evident throughout, from the humour and exploration to the engaging combat and clever hacking mini-games. While the stealth sections may not appeal to everyone, the overall experience is compelling, especially with its excellent performance and polished presentation. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Yars’ Revenge or new to the series, Yars Rising is well worth your time.

Garden Witch Life – September 12th

upcoming switch Games The image features the title screen for Garden Witch Life. A young witch with wide green eyes and brown hair is flying on a broomstick against a vibrant blue background. Surrounding her are colorful, whimsical elements such as smiling fruits, flowers, and a bee, all creating a cheerful and magical atmosphere. The game's title, "Garden Witch Life," is prominently displayed in playful white text with decorative leaves and a crescent moon. Published on: LadiesGamers.

You’re a little witch from the big city who has just lost her job. Life didn’t go as you’d expected, but now you can start anew on a tiny island full of possibilities! Grow your own magical garden, decorate your ancient treehouse, care for cute creatures, and make friends along the way.

Cook delicious new recipes using homegrown ingredients and be part of a wonderful community working together to make it thrive.

Lynne reviewed the game and wasn’t sure, saying in conclusion:

I like so much about Garden Witch Life. The bees buzzing round the hives, the roses growing up the trellis fences, the exciting and different areas through the magical portal, the cooking mini-games and no dangerous mine monsters to battle with. However at present it feels more like an early access version, and whilst updates are welcome to resolve issues, I shouldn’t have to restart in order to benefit.

It is for the numerous issues I encountered that I can’t recommend Garden Witch Life at this moment. I sincerely hope that the developers weed out the problems, as there is a great farming/life sim game waiting to be unearthed.

James reviewed Crossy Road Castle and liked it a lot, saying this in his conclusion:

Crossy Road Castle successfully captures the pick-up-and-play ease and addictive nature of the original Crossy Road while presenting it in a new platformer design that’s both welcoming to newcomers and engaging for experienced players. Whether you’re playing alone or with friends, there’s something in this game for everyone to enjoy. For me, it’s a game that brings together all the best elements of mobile gaming and adapts them brilliantly to modern consoles.

I reviewed Fabledom on Steam, gave it our highest score of Two thumbs Up, and said this in my conclusion:

Overall, I’ve had a lot of fun with Fabledom. It can be a slow burner, and it takes a while to get going. That may not suit all players of the genre, but for me, it gives me an opportunity to watch the Fablings ambling around as they build their city, and I love the fairytale setting.

Caravan SandWitch – September 12th

Life is simple: no combat, no death, no timer, just you, your van, and the world.

I reviewed Caravan SandWitch and liked it a lot, saying this in my conclusion:

If you are looking for a game with lots of action or high stakes, then Caravan SandWitch is not the game for you. This is a game that is all about taking your time, enjoying the world, and connecting with the characters you meet along the way. It’s a game that encourages you to slow down and really appreciate the journey rather than just rushing to the end.

If you enjoy exploration and a good story, like I do, then Caravan SandWitch is definitely worth checking out. It’s a game with a lot of heart, and it offers an experience that’s both relaxing and enjoyable. Whether you’re in it for the mystery, the exploration, or just the chance to unwind in a beautiful world, Caravan SandWitch is a journey worth taking.

The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom – September 26th

Upcoming Switch Games The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

Save the kingdom of Hyrule, this time with the wisdom of Princess Zelda, in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for Nintendo Switch.

The people of Hyrule are being stolen away by strange rifts that have appeared, and with a certain swordsman among those missing, it’s up to Princess Zelda to save her kingdom.

I reviewed The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and gave it our highest score of Two thumbs Up:

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a fantastic entry in the Zelda series, offering a refreshing shift in focus by putting Princess Zelda in the lead role. The game’s creative new mechanics, engaging puzzles, and the ever-expansive world of Hyrule make it a must-play for both longtime fans and newcomers alike. While it retains the magic and spirit of previous Zelda titles, Echoes of Wisdom stands out as a unique and innovative chapter in the franchise.

Ahro – September 27th

A serene, meditative scene from Ahro, featuring a character seated cross-legged at the base of a stone staircase amidst lush green surroundings. The bold purple title "AHRO" dominates the upper portion of the image, while mystical symbols, including an hourglass and a bell, float in the air. The forested background gives an air of tranquility and mystery. Published on: LadiesGamers.

In this transcendent, lore-rich side-scrolling adventure, you’ll uncover the story of Ahro and his world, with moments that provide space for reflection and interpretation.

Along the way, you will need to release Ahro’s spirit to travel into the sky and uncover new items, places, and secrets. You’ll also need to figure out how to reach hard-to-access areas as you navigate through lands occupied by imperial forces.

The story begins when Ahro starts experiencing frequent and distressing breakdowns. After finding only mild relief from herbal medicine, he sets out in search of a legendary miracle cure. As events unfold, the mysteries will both deepen and come into focus.
