Time to sit down for another YvoCaro plays: most of the times, these are about the video games I’m playing. Sometimes I can’t resist sharing other thoughts with you, sometimes game related, sometimes they are not.
It’s only fair to warn you that spoilers might be ahead! And by the way, if you like these blurbs of gaming thoughts of an elderly lady, you can find the previous ones here.
Just let me gush a little more about Civilization VI
I know, I wrote before that I’d stop blathering on about Civilization VI, but there are a couple of things that I just have to share with you. The first is that the game stays in style: not in the way that Teddy Roosevelt only has Canada and Mexico as neighbours. No, he might just as easily be beside France and Zanzibar. No, I’m surprised at the languages.

When you first meet a new ruler he or she welcomes you. (At least, at first they welcome you. You always have to beware that they won’t stab you in the back afterward, lol). And I can testify upon hearing Fillip II of Spain, Catharine de Medici of France and Frederick Barbarossa of Germany that the language they speak is indeed Spanish, France and German. I don’t doubt the other rulers speak their own language too!
Trying to find the Christmas feeling in games
When I was young I put my own collection of Christmas songs on a cassette-tape (for you young people, something like a playlist in iTunes but this one was on a little cassette tape that you could play in a cassette recorder or Walkman) And my Christmas favourites got a lot of playtime, as I started listening from October till the festive days were over. My dad always used to tease me with that, when he and my mom came to visit and “Lonely this Christmas” by Mudd was already blaring through the speakers. But I loved it, there was always such a special quality to everything related to it.

Added to the music, the movies and the decorations I always love to play a typical Christmas game. App games which are easily accessible and typically cheap are great for that. A lot of the year-round games have a special Christmas theme. In HayDay, the animals are adorned with wintery accessories. In Happy Street Santa rides through the shopping street with Rudolf. And of course there’s Pocket Camp, that does everything to get you in the spirit. Only problem is, I have yet to find a good dedicated Christmas game. A game that captures all the goodness of a great Christmas movie? Maybe they are just too costly to make for such a short period of use. I was wondering: any tips, anyone?
What's holly, jolly, airborne, and craftable? Why, it's Jingle's Holiday Balloon, of course! If you craft this item and place it in your campsite, Jingle might pay you a visit. Wow, look how gracefully it floats above the campsite! pic.twitter.com/k6418x27D3
