YvoCaro plays: Various kinds of Beasts

What an amazing week for my gaming! You know, if often lament of how busy my work is, and how little gaming time I have. But this week just goes to show that if the right game comes along, all of that goes out of the window. If I’m really, really stoked, I’ll find the time anyway.

It all started with one of the Beasts, the divine Beast in Zelda Breath of the Wild. My last one! I just need to conquer the camel Vah Naboris in Gerudo. Somehow I tend to postpone the Divine Beasts, always afraid as I am that I might not be able to make it in the boss fight with one of the horrific forms of Gannon.

So I was ready, had entered the beast and unlocked most of the terminals. Link was still in style of course, still wearing the woman’s outfit needed to enter Gerudo.

Am  the only one who takes sneak peeks at walkthroughs to do these things? I know many would consider it cheating, but I don’t want to get frustrated not making any progress. It’s not like I use the walkthrough constantly, but when I couldn’t find the last terminals, I resorted to IGN. Because I just know that if I don’t, I’ll just move on to my other wonderful game I’m playing.

Those last terminals were tricky for me, when I have to be quick and agile I sometimes have some difficulty. But I managed, only one, the main terminal remaining. I’m afraid to go one step further, as I don’t feel I’m prepared. Not a lot of arrows are remaining, and my weapon arsenal isn’t quite up to specs. I wondered why I didn’t find the Guardians weapons after I beat them in the hallways. Then it suddenly dawned on me: chicken that I am, I take them out with a bomb arrow! Of course the weapons get blown to smithereens as well!

I’m going to leave Naboris behind for now, and go back to my other gaming addiction of the moment: Dragon Quest Builders. Remember how I re-published my review, made in 2016 when it was my Game of the Year? I had contemplated buying the game again for the Switch, but I decided just to check in on my Vita, see where I had left the game.

Just a short time needed to get my bearings again in Chapter 3, Kol & Galenholm. And then I was back into the flow, and totally addicted. Just couldn’t put the game down. Building,  beautifying and re-building. Because the enemy can really wreck havoc. I had one enemy battle where my base was besieged by Wizards, Knights and one ugly best of a Troll. I had to do the fight twice, because the  healing items are really, really scarce at the beginning of Chapter 3. In the end I circled the base for some time, trying to regain some HP. And all the while, the troll was destroying everything in the base.

Got him in the end though, hacking him to pieces. But then a Builders job is never done: took some time to get the base back in order, while Barbella announced another interesting quest again. Her quests are always challenging: I wonder why she doesn’t lift a finger herself, being such a buff bodybuilder. By the way, talking about skimpy bikinis: check out her brah! That woman really is bad-ass!

Reminds me, the names of her cronies amuse me: Glutimus and Maximus? That’s another nice thing about the game: excellent writing! Here’s us in the BodyBuilders Baths. Modesty first of course, YvoCaro is in full .

Of course I did some Pocket Camp too, but only to realize some goals. Breath of the Wild and Dragon Quest Builders have taken center stage! So tell me, what have you been playing?

  1. Just reach chapter 2 on DQ: builder. Now have to start collecting materials all over again, lol! This game probably will keep me busy till Ninokuni 2 out… can’t wait to play it. Love the art work and gameplay on the first.

Honestly, this Zelda: BotW didn’t catches my interest and I am sort of a Zelda fan ( not crazy collector, just play almost all the game other than the old N64 version and some merchandise ) Don’t know why I didn’t care for this game thou.

    1. I’ve heard that before about BotW. Now, for starters, I’m not really a Zelda fan, the usual games are often too hard for me. I did enjoy Windwaker with my husband back then, but I know that lots of Zelda fans cringe at that title. Maybe it’s because I’m not really a fan!

Btw, I envy you NinoKuni. Wish that title would come to Switch, i enjoyed the DS version on the Japanese 3DS back then.

      1. I have both PS3 and DS NinoKuni, but I enjoy the PS version more cos it’s a pain to draw the spell on DS but the book is very nice. I too wish it come to Switch but for now I wish more for Snack World western release on Switch, not sure if I will just get the JP switch version, if I do I probably get the 3DS instead since it will probably cheaper, unless Level-5 make the Switch version muti- language ( after all they did an english voice over trailer for the 3ds already )

        1. Seeing as Level 5 brings so many games to Nintendo’s devices I hope they will do so for Ni no Kuni too.
I have been thinking of the Japanese Snack World too, keeping tabs on any news if it’s multi language. That would be great!
