This isn’t recent news (various sites reported this back in March) but I thought the story would help generate a good discussion for the weekend.
Back in March, I went to the cinema to watch Captain Marvel with my children. The latest Marvel Universe movie hero is played by Brie Larson, who just so happens to be a massive Metroid fan. And guess what? She wants to take on the Samus role if such an opportunity comes. In fact, she appears to be an avid Nintendo/Samus fan, particularly if you take her cosplay history as proof.

After watching Captain Marvel and Endgame, I think Brie would suit the Samus role 100%.
Perhaps you can think of other actresses that could star in other potential live action Nintendo franchised movies?
