Gaming News – 26th September

It’s time for Gaming News! Tonight, we have UK Switch Lite sales news, as well as a host of other stories, including new game announcments. Let’s get straight to it.

Nintendo Switch Sales off to a slow start in the UK

It appears that Nintendo Switch Lite sales in the UK are slower than analysists initially expected. Gaming site Nintendo Life reported yesterday that the console had sold just 13,500 units launch. With that said, we are nearing the Holiday season, and shoppers will be saving up hard-earned cash Christmas presents. I also agree with GameIndustry.biz who suggests that the launch of Pokemon Sword and Sheild will boost system sales, especially when the Pokemon Switch Lite launches later this year.

If you have purchased a Nintendo Switch Lite, then why not share your impressions in the comment section below.

New Mistover Demo Available on eShop

Krafton Games is releasing a new Mystover Demo for Nintendo Switch today via the eShop. Team member Paige has already written her impressions and made a video about the first demo. The press release explains:

“The new expanded demo takes Expedition Corps on their first steps of the expedition. This second demo allows players to control party formation, buy items and manage inventory before entering the first dungeon “Misty Forest”. This first dungeon will be the training grounds for the Expedition Corps before entering deeper into its lair, a passageway to worlds existing in alternate dimensions.

Before venturing into the ominous mist that awaits, the Duke Henrich of your new home Arta, will task you to join the “Missing ones,” a group of those who have lost their memory and take on the expeditions under the guide of Lenni, a sassy soldier.”

The full game is due for release on 10th October.

And finally…

Switch gamers are used to games which are cut back compared to versions on more powerful systems. But Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition on Switch appears to have slight enhancements over Xbox and PC versions.

Game director Thomas Mahler on ResetEra commented that the game’s engine is the product of ten years work and “a lot of the optimisations we did for Will of the Wisps ended up in the Blind Forest version for Switch.”

Regarding framerate he went to state that Ori’s spites “were animated at 30fps on Xbox/PC, but for Switch [at] 60fps due to all the optimisations.”

Ori and Blind Forest is due to release for Switch tomorrow.

That’s it for now.

  1. I suspect the Lite sales are low because many people already own a Switch and don’t see the need to get another. Things should pick up come Christmas time though. I play my Switch only in handheld mode, so if I didn’t already own one I would buy the Lite.

    1. Same here. Mine never sees a TV set up close, lol. But as it works fine now playing in the train, I don’t see the need to buy a Lite. But if it were my first buy, I wouldn’t hesitate: a Lite for me!
