The world of gaming is buzzing about the Nintendo Switch Lite. This edition of Gaming News includes a brief recap of yesterdays big news, as well as snippets of info about the Nintendo Online Service, and the upcoming Trine Ultimate Collection.
Nintendo Announce the Nintendo Switch Lite
Nintendo has finally announced the Nintendo Switch Lite. Finally, after months of rumours and speculation, we know what the console looks like, and how it differs from the original Switch.
Paige filled us in on all the specifics as you can read here. As speculated, Nintendo Switch Lite isn’t dockable and doesn’t include detachable Joy-Cons.
The Switch Mini is due to launch on September 20th in three different colours – yellow, grey, and turquoise. There will also be a Pokemon Sword and Sheild edition released later in the year which will inevitably sell like hotcakes.
After playing the Switch Lite for 30mins, Alex Fitzpatrick from Time Magazine wrote:
“The Switch Lite is lighter and easier to hold than it’s thicker, heavier hybrid brethren, and while the screen is slightly smaller and hasn’t been upgraded, it’s still a perfectly fine 720p display, and games like Breath of the Wild look as beautiful as ever. If I were in the market for a Switch later this year, I can already tell this is the model I would pick.”
What are your first impressions of the Switch Lite? I personally have mixed feelings due to the inability to dock the system and the absence of a kickstand. In all probability, upcoming will feature a stand, but I don’t see why such a feature couldn’t have been built in.

Two New Titles and a Rewind Feature Coming to Nintendo Switch Online.
One of the bonuses subscribers have for signing up to Nintendo Switch Online is free access to a selection of classic NES titles. Sadly, this month’s new games list is limited to two titles, but there’s a cool new feature being added which initially debuted on the SNES Mini.
The two classic titles being added are Donkey Kong 3 and Wrecking Crew.
The significant new feature is the ability to rewind titles at any point. It’s a great way of undoing mistakes, collecting items you’ve just missed, or replaying an entire stage.
What’s your favourite Nintendo Switch Online NES title? Which games would you like Nintendo to add in the future? I’d personally love Popeye to be added, but Nintendo doesn’t appear to have much love for our favourite spinach-eating sailor.
Could a New Super Monkey Ball Game be Heading to Switch?
I love the Super Monkey Ball franchise! My first Super Monkey Ball title was for GameCube back in 2004. The last handheld version I played was Super Monkey Ball Touch and Roll, but it didn’t quite match the highs of the home console versions. This, however, could all change because a Super Monkey Ball for Nintendo Switch has appeared on the Taiwanese rating board. The Japanese title translates as Now Taste Good! Super Monkey Ball.
Would you like to see the Super Monkey Ball franchise come to Nintendo Switch?
Good News for Trine Fans
The Trine Ultimate Collection is heading to Nintendo Switch in the Autumn. The compilation will release physically and will include all 4 Trine Games, download codes for a series soundtrack, a digital artbook and a World Map for Trine 4.
Being a big fan of the Trine series, I can’t wait to get my hands on this compilation. 😊
That’s it for now.
