Former Nintendo Headquarters in Kyoto to be a hotel

Nintendo is a company that has been around for a long, very long time. Back in 1889 the company started out making Hanafuda, playing cards of Japanese origin that are used to play a number of games. The building in Kyoto that was their first true Headquarters under president Sekiryo Kaneda (the adopted son-in-law of the founder Yamauchi is going to be converted to a hotel.  [Thanks for the info, Japanese Nintendo!]

Of course, this is a much smaller office in Ohashi, Kyoto. Kyoto is a city that prides itself on cultural heritage, and the building will remain as it is, including the famous Nintendo plate that marks the spot of the company’s first headquarters as a card company.

Arc of Alchemist coming to the Switch

RPG Arc of Alchemist will be available on the Switch, as well as on PS4, at the end of January. The action RPG looks like a good addition to the growing RPG library on Switch. This is the storyline, and check out the new English trailer:

Enter the desert in search of the key to save humanity – the Great Power. One year, the king declared that he would send a large-scale investigation team to the Desert of Beginnings.

Chosen to captain this mission, Quinn Bravesford leads her soldiers into battle against a swath of enemy nations for the sake of her kingdom. Quinn gazes at the ancient alchemic device, the Lunagear, within her hand. According to the legends of yore, once the Lunagear is equipped with the four Orbs, it will unlock the Great Power that will save humanity. Only one Orb resides in Quinn’s Lunagear. Collecting the four Orbs for the Lunagear, however, is a mere legend.

With the threat of dangerous creatures and Machine Dolls wandering the desert, one of the enemy nations, the Principality of Neuhaven, has dispatched their military in search of the Great Power. Now, Quinn and her band of allies must fight against the Principality of Neuhaven in hopes to find the Great Power and save humanity. Quinn steels herself, but even so, she can’t help but doubt the existence of the Great Power…”

Giraffe and Annika get a new publisher

Remember how the announcement was made that Giraffe and Annika would come to Switch? We are almost two years further in time, and the game will now be available on Steam soon, on February 18. A Switch released is promised in 2020, but there’s no date yet. So what is the game about?

“Annika awoke from a strange dream to find herself stranded on the mysterious Spica Island! Upon exploring, she meets a boy named Giraffe, who seems to know her, yet she can’t remember him at all. Giraffe tasks Annika with finding three special star fragments on the island. Only then will she be able to unravel the mystery!

While searching for the fragments, Annika meets Lily, the Witch of the Mysterious Forest. After winning a battle with Lily, Annika uncovers the star fragments and absorbs it into herself. What strange visions will the star fragment grant her?”

A game for Cat lovers, as you’ll find cute cat collectables all over the island. And the boss battles are special as well, as you’ll synchronize your attacks to the music to overcome challenges! Check out the games trailer:
