Gaming News Weekend 21

It’s that time  again, time for this weeks roundup of the news around the world of handheld video games that stood out to us. This week it’s about digital pre-order Story of Seasons, Summer in Mara getting close, joining the quest of young witch Potata, puzzle adventure Evan’s Remains coming and visual novel Strawberry Vinegar coming next month.

Digital pre-order Story of Seasons

Pre-orders for the next Story of Seasons games have gone live in most territories. If you want to start your Friends of Mineral Town on July 14, pre-ordering digital might be a good idea. You’ll miss out on the strawberry cow we mentioned last week ( that is a part of the physical pre-order) but you will get this lovely costume in game!

Summer in Mara getting close

A simulation game I am really looking forward to is Summer in Mara. This former Kickstarter by Chibig Games looks very good, colorful, cute and the kind of gameplay I love. For a moment I was afraid it would be released very close to Animal Crossing but fortunately it wasn’t.

As I’m a backer I already got the info that the game is complete, Chibig is waiting for Nintendo to put the game up with a release date. Nice that you can now experience the beginning of the adventure in Mara for free on the PC.

From May 29 you can get a taste for the game by playing the Summer in Mara-Prologue.  Check the Steam page for this demo

Join the quest of young witch Potata

On June 6 a cute looking platformer puzzler is coming to the Switch. Meet Potata, a novice witch-in-training, traveling through a fairytale world. A World, and her home, that she must save.

The game offers more than 10 hours of the story campaign, where you’ll have to make decisions that affect the outcome of the game.

What’s interesting is that each level has different side stories and puzzles that can help you avoid encounters with the most dangerous enemies.

Puzzle adventure Evan’s Remains coming

Developer Matías Schmied and publisher Whitethorn Games announced their mystery-thriller puzzle adventure game Evan’s Remains this week. It will launch June 11th on multiple platforms, like the Switch.

The game is about finding a missing boy and combines logic-based platform puzzles with a narrative inspired by Japanese graphic adventure games. Follow the journey of Dysis in her attempt to find Evan by solving puzzles by deductions. So sit back, relax, solve some puzzles and immerse yourself in a story right in mystery. No enemies, no failures and no game over!

Visual novel Strawberry Vinegar coming next month

Ratalaika Games & ebi-hime have announced that visual novel Strawberry Vinegar will be released for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 consoles next month.

Sakuraba Rie, aged nine, is a cynical and grumpy girl who cares little for her fellow classmates, and does not have a single friend.

That is, until a self-proclaimed demon from the deepest, darkest pits of Hell suddenly appears in Rie’s kitchen and steals a tray of cookies. What will happen next? The story has six different endings.

That’s it for this week, have a happy gaming weekend!
