Gaming News weekend 36

It’s that time of the week again, time to look at the gaming news that stood out to us! This week, we have news about Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Carto is Coming, Mario Event Coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons, Root Film English Release in Q1 2021 and the Spiritfarer Soundtrack.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars

If you’re a Nintendo fan you can hardly have missed it: Mario celebrates his 35th Birthday soon. And to celebrate, Nintendo is bringing you the Super Mario’s 3D adventures from the Nintendo 64, GameCube and Wii to Switch in the form of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Super Mario 3D World is also on the way in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, to be released in 2021.

Optimized versions of 3D Mario games Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy are coming to Nintendo Switch in one package, Super Mario’s 3D All-Stars. In addition to having higher resolutions than their original versions, the games have been optimized for a smooth gameplay experience on Nintendo Switch. Super Mario 3D All-Stars also includes an in-game music-player mode to play the music and songs from all three games. Players can also listen to music on their Nintendo Switch systems when the screen is off.

A limited production of Super Mario 3D All-Stars launches exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family of systems on September 18 and will be available until approximately March 31, 2021.

Carto is Coming!

Carto is a chill adventure game wrapped around a unique, world-shifting puzzle mechanic. Use this power to explore mysterious lands, help a quirky cast of new friends, and guide Carto on her journey home.

The game has a unique puzzle/exploration mechanic: rearrange pieces of your map, and watch the world change around you! Sounds like fun!

Mario Event Coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons

Nintendo announced that a brand new Mario event is coming to New Horizons. Remember how we had Mario themed items in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp? We don’t know yet what to expect this time around, but Nintendo promised that more information would follow, possibly in the upcoming Animal Crossing New Horizons Direct that will talk more about the Halloween update coming next month!

Root Film English Release in Q1 2021

PQube, who handled the release of Root Letter back then (review of that game here), will now also bring Root Film to the Switch and PS4. Kadokawa’s newest adventure already released in Japan this year, good news that the game heads our way too.

The trailer below is in Japanese, but the gist of the story is about Yagumo Rintaro, a director, and his crew head to Shimane Prefecture to attempt to be chosen to reboot a TV series. However, murder gets in the way of everyone’s plans. It then falls to the player to figure out what is going on in this adventure game.

Spiritfarer Soundtrack

In Spiritfarer, out in the eShop already, you play Stella, ferrymaster to the deceased, a Spiritfarer. Build a boat to explore the world, then befriend and care for spirits before finally releasing them into the afterlife. Farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft your way across mystical seas. Join the adventure as Daffodil the cat, in two-player cooperative play. Spend relaxing quality time with your spirit passengers, create lasting memories, and, ultimately, learn how to say goodbye to your cherished friends.

Paula is looking at this interesting game, and can wholeheartedly recommend the soundtrack!
