Gaming News weekend 41

It’s that time again, time to look at the gaming news that stood out to us this weekend, a demo of Pikmin 3 DeLuxe in the eShop, CrownTrick coming to the Switch in time for Halloween, is Kickstarter Calico delayed to late 2020, Luna – The Shadow Dust pre-order, ToyZone recreated Polly Pocket miniatures, to be released on a Rainy Day in 2021, Japanese rural farming sim and an update for Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Demo Pikmin 3 DeLuxe in the eShop

Pikmin 3 was originally released for the Wii U in 2013, and as I mentioned before, is now coming to the Nintendo Switch October 30. Now, a demo is released in the eShop, experiencing what many in our team are exited about first hand. The game has updated controls and indeed, it does control a lot better than the Wii U version. They have added a few new modes too, but they’re locked in the demo. The demo has a save carry over that takes you up to the first boss. So if you’ve never experienced Pikmin before you should definitely try it out.

CrownTrick Coming to the Switch in Time for Halloween

Explore the procedurally generated dungeons of the Nightmare Realm in Crown Trick, coming to Nintendo Switch and PC on October 16th, just in time for Halloween. In this turn-based roguelike you play as Elle. Armed with only your magical talking crown to guide you, you’ll develop your own combat style; choosing between active and passive abilities and utilising relics to aid you along the way.

Kickstarter Calico Late 2020?

Most people are affected by the Covid pandemic in one way or another, and the team behind Calico: Magical Girls Running Cat Cafés! is no exception. This means the expected release window of October won’t be met, but Kells and Andrew do expect a late 2020 release.

Still, I think that if they make it this year that’d be awesome!

Luna – The Shadow Dust Pre-Order

On October 22 Luna is expected on the Switch. This indie game was originally a PC game that has various game genres. In their DevLog Lantern Studio writes:

Luna isn’t your typical point and click game, nor a classic platformer; it’s a hybrid with various gameplay elements designed in a way to deliver the story we want to tell. LUNA is friendly towards casual players, but still can be enjoyed by puzzle lovers. It is family-friendly and most importantly, can be enjoyed by a broader audience no matter your cultural background, age, and language.

Sounds very interesting!

ToyZone recreated Polly Pocket miniatures

Nowadays kids have iPads, Netflix and hi-tech toys to keep them entertained. But back in the 90s, there were few things more exciting than getting hold of the latest Polly Pocket. I know, because my daughter had a couple of them. Tiny, miniature and so cleverly made!
To recreate that feeling for 2020, the team over at TheToyZone imagined what would happen if Polly Pocket decided to ‘do a LEGO’ and absorb a few popular on-screen franchises…
The result is a nostalgic series of Polly Pockets inspired by the fictional worlds of LOTR, The Royal Tenenbaums and more. This is my favourite,  check it out to see what’s yours!

To Be Released on a Rainy Day in 2021

As you can tell by the way the developers mention the release date, Rain on Your Parade is a slapstick comedy game where you play as a mischievous cloud determined to ruin everybody’s day. Travel the world as a mischievous cloud set to rain on everyone’s parade! Unlock new methods of causing mayhem and destruction across a wide range of short and sweet levels each with their own unique objectives. Want to laugh at other people’s misfortune? Then this is your game. Coming to the Switch as well!

Japanese Rural Farming Sim

Basically, this looks just like Stardew Valley but still, would be an interesting wholesome game!
This mobile game called Tiny Pixel Farm is being made by Game Start in Japan, and looks quite nice.

Update 1.5.1 Animal Crossing New Horizons

You may have noticed a new update coming in yesterday in your Animal Crossing game. Nothing major, just some general fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where some title keywords obtained via Nook Miles would not appear within the Passport.
  • Fixed an issue where certain messages would display in English for users playing in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, or Russian.
  • Fixed an issue where animal residents would talk about pumpkins when given a bamboo shoot.
  • Fixed an issue where it was no longer possible to jump over a river based on the location of certain furniture.
