Jonah’s Gaming News and Discussion

It’s time to try and generate more conversation by using stories from the last couple of days. Since my last post, a famous mascot celebrated his 28th birthday, gamers have voted for their favourite Pokemon, and two classic retro systems are getting a new game release.

Happy 28th Birthday Sonic!

23rd June marked Sega’s blue mascot 28th birthday. Yes I know we’re a little late (6 days in fact) but whether you like his games or not, Sonic plays a huge part in video games.

I personally enjoy games starring Sega’s prickly mascot. Two favourites that come to mind are Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) and Sonic Lost World (Wii U). I also own lots of other titles such as Sonic Mania and Sonic Colours, and various retro titles.

And who would have guessed 28 years ago that Sonic and Mario would share their own franchise?
What are you’re favourite Sonic games?

First Person Puzzle Game Memorrha Heading to Switch

If atmospheric first person puzzle/problem-solving games are your thing, then Memorrha from StickyStoneStudio deserves your attention. According to a press release, the game started as a hobby project three years ago and received a lot of praise while shown at a recent German developer conference. The game is set to launch on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on 27th September.

The developers press release describes the game as: “a full-featured single-player game (Not just [for]logic fans, but also [for] those who are into experimental and exploratory games) that takes about 8 to 10 hours to complete.”

Is Memorrha on your gaming watch-list? It’s most certainly on mine.  The above trailer looks fantastic!

Which Pokemon is your Favourite?

Pokemon fans are in an uproar over the news that large numbers of previous generation Pokemon cannot be transferred to Sword and Shield.  This resulted in Reddit user mamamia1001 setting up a survey for Pokemon players to vote for their favourite Pokémon.   More than 52,700 users cast their vote, and the top ten list is as follows:

Charizard 1107
Gengar 1056
Arcanine 923
Bulbasaur 710
Blaziken 613
Umbreon 607
Lucario 604
Gardevoir 585
Eevee 581
Dragonite 551

Limited Run Games Launching NES and Gameboy Star Wars Carts

If you’re a retro Star Wars fan with an NES or Gameboy in your gaming collection, then rejoice because Limited Run Games are releasing cartridge versions of Star Wars for both machines. Each cart will come packaged similarly to toy figures, and even though avid collectors may miss a proper box, this will still be a cool addition to any gaming collection?.

Do you still own either an NES or Gameboy console? If so are you interested in this re-release of Star Wars?  And would you like to see other NES or GBA games re-released on original cartridges?

So that’s it for now.  I hope to post another news discussion post in a few days.  Happy gaming!

We love to hear from you!
