Tiny Bookshop is Open on Switch and PC

If you’ve ever dreamed of running your own cosy little bookstore, Tiny Bookshop might just be your next digital escape. Revealed as a surprise during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase, this heartwarming narrative sim is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

You’ll find yourself travelling through a scenic coastal town in a mobile bookshop, chatting with locals, uncovering their stories, and slowly shaping your own path. It looks like a colourful game full of gentle moments, meaningful choices, and a soundtrack that’s tailor-made for rainy afternoons and quiet reading sessions.

Expect slice-of-life storytelling, a wholesome cast of characters, and plenty of ways to decorate and upgrade your travelling shop. There are multiple endings in the game, and you can play the demo now on Steam.

The Good Old Days This Fall

The Good Old Days is shaping up to be a nostalgic treat for fans of retro platformers and heartfelt storytelling. Launching this autumn on Nintendo Switch and Steam, it looks like a colourful 2D Metroidvania-style adventure that channels the spirit of classic ’80s films—with pixel art charm and a dash of youthful wonder.

You’ll step into the shoes of Sean, a boy caught in a whirlwind day in the city of Arostia. With a debt looming and his dad missing, you’ve got just one day to turn things around. Along the way, you’ll explore secret-filled locations, unlock clever mechanics, and rescue friends who become playable characters—each with unique abilities that open up new paths and strategies.

Expect boss battles inspired by childhood toys, arcade-style backdrops, and plenty of hidden nods to the good old days. You’re free to tackle challenges your way—whether through combat, exploration, or creativity. And with multiple endings shaped by your choices, time of day, and even your cash, every playthrough spins a fresh tale.

What’s more, The Good Old Days features a circular story structure, meaning each ending loops back to a new beginning.

Free DLC for WitchSpring R

WitchSpring R: The Follower’s Fall is dropping as a free DLC on 22 August 2025 and it’s coming to all platforms, including Xbox, which joins the party on the same day. If you’ve already finished WitchSpring R, this light-hearted post-ending episode looks like a charming bonus, crafted as a thank-you to fans.

You’ll get to dive deeper into the stories of the main cast and the mysterious Follower, with full voice acting in Korean and Japanese. It’s a gentle epilogue that adds a touch of warmth and closure to the magical journey.

To mark the series’ 10th anniversary, KIWIWALKS is also hosting a global Fan Art Contest. If you’re artistically inclined, you’ve got a chance to showcase your work and win exclusive prizes—plus a spot on the official site.

Undusted: Letters from the Past Coming This Fall

Undusted: Letters from the Past is heading to Nintendo Switch and Steam in October 2025, and it looks like a cozy, heartfelt cleaning sim that’s all about slowing down and reconnecting with the past.

You’ll play as Adora, a daughter returning to her childhood home after her mother’s passing. As you clean each object, you’ll uncover tender memories and moments you might’ve once overlooked. It’s not just about tidying up, it’s about healing, remembering, and rediscovering.

Expect a soothing ASMR-style experience, where every brush stroke and gentle scrub feels tactile and calming. The game’s lo-fi art style blends 2D and 3D visuals with warm, vibrant colours that draw you into its emotional story.

The trailer for the game is here.

Chibi Robo on Switch Online!

This might actually be the first time that I go for a Nintendo Switch online game! Not too long ago, in my review of Misc. A Tiny Tale I mentioned that I didn’t understand why Nintendo didn’t bring us Chibi Robo!

Chibi Robo! Plug into Adventure! stems from the GameCube in 2005 and will arrive on August 21st. To play it, you have to have a Nintendo Online + Expansion Pack subscription and it can only be played on the Switch 2.

Idler Whimside is on Steam

If you’re after a gentle distraction while you work or study, Whimside might be just the thing. Launched on 7th August for PC via Steam, this colourful idle game from indie studio Toadzillart and publisher Future Friends Games (the folks behind SUMMERHOUSE and Gourdlets) lets you collect quirky creatures and decorate your own whimsical space—all without leaving your desktop.

You’ll find Whimside quietly nestled at the bottom of your screen, where it keeps you company throughout the day. You can capture rare Whimlings, combine them to create entirely new species, and unlock fresh biomes packed with surprises. It looks like a relaxing game that lets you play at your own pace, whether you’re deep in spreadsheets or bingeing videos.

Decorating is a big part of the charm too. As you progress, you’ll unlock new items to personalise your space—think peaceful gardens or playful outdoor setups. And yes, your favourite Whimlings can move in and hang out with you.

Pine Hoverfly Outfit Set DLC For SoS: Grand Bazaar

If you’re planning to dive into STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar when it launches on 27 August 2025, there’s a heartwarming reason to grab the new Pine Hoverfly Outfit Set DLC. Available on Nintendo Switch™, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, this charming add-on includes a cosy sweater, beanie, and glider—and every penny of the proceeds goes straight to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) to help protect the critically endangered pine hoverfly.

It’s not just a cute outfit pack. You’re actively supporting a species that was once clinging to survival in a single Scottish forest. Thanks to Marvelous Europe’s ongoing partnership with RZSS, the pine hoverfly breeding programme has grown from 170 to 8,000 individuals annually, and—for the first time in eight years—adults are now thriving in the wild again.

The DLC reflects the game’s core theme of regeneration, as you work to restore Zephyr Town by raising animals, growing crops, and selling your wares at the weekly bazaar. It looks like a picturesque farming sim with wind-powered gliding and a cast of colourful characters to befriend (or romance, if you fancy).

Virtual Donors in Minecraft, Fortnite, and Baldur’s Gate 3

Since 13 August—World Organ Donation Day—you can save lives in MinecraftFortnite, and Baldur’s Gate 3 in a whole new way. The Belgian non-profit Re-born to be Alive has launched Virtual Donors, a powerful initiative that turns in-game death into a chance to give life. If your character dies, up to eight teammates receive extra lives—mirroring how one real donor can save up to eight people.

It looks like a clever twist on familiar gameplay, designed to get gamers thinking about organ donation in the real world. By registering as a donor via virtualdonors.org, you unlock free mods that integrate this life-giving mechanic into your favourite multiplayer titles. The campaign was developed with international modders, including Tim Holland from New Zealand, whose partner is currently on a lung transplant waitlist.

The goal? To make organ donation relevant to a generation that might not have considered it yet. As Dr Helen Taylor from RZSS put it, “Dying shouldn’t be game-over”—and now, in-game choices can spark real-world impact.

Sips and Sonnets: Make Tea and Write Poetry as an Old Lady

If you’ve ever dreamed of sipping tea and penning poetry in the British countryside, Sips and Sonnets might be your perfect escape. Launching on 12 September 2025 for Windows and Mac via Steam, this fully-voiced cosy visual novel from indie studio Blue Tango Street lets you step into the slippers of an elderly woman enjoying her retired life—with one-hand gameplay designed so you can literally drink tea while you play.

It looks like a gentle, heartfelt experience with branching dialogue, tea brewing mechanics, and a poetry minigame. You’ll be guided by the voices of Bethan Dixon Bate (Baldur’s Gate 3Vermintide) and Lenval Brown (Disco Elysium), adding a rich layer of warmth and charm to the story.

Expect a 2–4 hour journey filled with therapeutic art, meaningful choices, and multiple endings—all for just $6.99 USD, with a 30% discount at launch.

Upgrade for Lost in Random: The Eternal Die

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die just got a stylish upgrade—and if you’re already rolling through its twisted realms, you’ll want to check this out.

The new “Stitched in Style” Wardrobe Expansion is now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox for £3.99, with a Switch release coming later. You’ll get two fresh outfits each for Aleksandra and Fortune, letting you channel the quirky charm of the Rulemaster’s Set or the sinister flair of Ludo’s Outfit. It looks like a colourful game with a dark fantasy twist, and these new threads only add to the visual punch.

Alongside the DLC, there’s a free update packed with quality-of-life tweaks: a new “Relic Bingo” preview, a Player Ability Menu to track your powers, and custom movement keys for PC players. If you’re new to the game, you can grab Lost in Random: The Eternal Die at 20% off on Steam, PlayStation Store, and the Switch EU eShop for the next two weeks—or dive in via Xbox Game Pass.

You’ll follow Queen Aleksandra and her dicey companion Fortune as they battle through four procedurally generated worlds, facing off against 30+ enemy types and bosses. Combat blends real-time action with strategic card-based abilities, giving you over 100 relics to mix and match. It plays like a fast-paced roguelite with a Tim Burton-inspired aesthetic—think hauntingly beautiful backdrops, eerie characters, and a soundtrack that pulls you deeper into the madness.

Spooky Express Puzzler Coming

Launching on 21st October 2025 for PC and mobile, Spooky Express is the latest puzzler from Draknek & Friends, the minds behind A Monster’s Expedition and Cosmic Express. It looks like a charmingly spooky game where you’ll be laying tracks and planning routes for undead commuters across the haunted land of Trainsylvania.

You’ll tackle over 150 handcrafted levels, each a cosy little diorama bursting with playful detail. Expect to navigate through places like the Pumpkin Patch, Morbid Manor, and Impish Inferno, all set to a spooky soundtrack that adds just the right amount of chill.

It plays like an elegant puzzle game, packed with quirky monsters and clever mechanics that ramp up in complexity as you go.
