Hi my friend, come on in! It’s been some time since we had this nice cup of coffee to celebrate the weekend and share some handheld gaming news, right? As you perhaps saw in last weeks’ blogs, we had a wonderful holiday touring the US. How was your holiday? Did you have beach, sun and lots of fun, or did you spend your holiday doing something else entirely?
Did you see the cup of drink in the picture? No coffee this time, I thought to share some butter beer and pumpkin juice with you, all curtesy of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Just between us: I didn’t like the taste of both, the butter beer is just very weird. You don’t know if you can eat it (first layer) but you really have to drink it ( underneath the froth). But, it made for a nice picture!
This first working week wrapped up nicely with the Nintendo Direct we had yesterday. I shared the news I was most exited about yesterday in this blog. Really looking forward to the Animal Crossing update and the new cards and I’m glad for the Pikmin adventure for the 3DS. I’ve updated my MiiPlaza already, it’ll be nice to be able to have a 100 visitors queuing in front of my gates. By the way, the update is free, you just pay for the mini games. There was a lot more news of course for fans of the 3DS.
Z-moves in Pokémon Sun and Moon
There was some more footage on Pokémon Sun and Moon, showing how some Pokémon could evolve to a different variety in the Alolan Region. The Ratata (by now I’ve seen more then enough of that creature in Pokémon Go) was shown as an example. Plus they mentioned how Special-Z moves can be used. The type of Z-Move a Pokémon can use depends on the type of Z-Crystal you give a Pokémon. Anyone who buys one of the games when they launch on and connects it to the internet before Jan. 11, 2017, will receive Munchlax in the game, along with a “Snorlium Z” crystal to unlock the special Z-Move known as Pulverizing Pancake.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
This renewed game will be completely remade with lots of hours of new content. It will have a StreetPass feature allowing players to swap Traveller’s Tablets to access special dungeons and items. You’ll be able to fight new monsters, explore new dungeons and obtain unique items through online distributions. If you pre-order the game before it launches Sept. 16 (in the US) will receive a free Dragon Quest VII menu theme.
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls
Some more info was given to the new Yo-Kai Watch games, where you travel to the past to witness the origin of the Yo-kai Watch and put an end to an age-old war between two Yo-kai factions! The leader of the Bony Spirits faction is Arachnus, who harbors a spidery secret. The leader for Fleshy Souls is Toadal Dude, the essence of a toad who lived for several centuries thanks to his fresh sense of style. The free demo version arrives in the American eShop mid-September and the games launch on Sept. 30.
Disney Magical World 2
They gave us some more to look at in the Disney Magical World 2 game that will be released on October 14 (America and Europe). You’ll get to explore six Disney-themed worlds. Anyone who pre-purchases the title will receive three in-game Frozen outfits free for characters like Elsa, Anna and Olaf.
With all those good games coming, plus some gems for the Vita (Dragon Quest Builders and Final Fantasy World, both in October) I’ll have to make some decisions soon! But then, more choice is good, right? Poor wallet though!
Thanks for joining me again and have yourself some happy gaming this weekend!
I cannot wait for the portable version of Dragon Quest 7. It looks really cool. As for other games, definitely getting Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls. I’m sorry, but Toadall Dude? Sounds amazing.
Yeah, the namens in yo-kai can be really strange…as does the sub title of the game, right?
That’s a lot of new news! A surprising amount of news too, as it had seemed that apart from Pokemon and a bunch of other RPGs not from Nintendo the 3DS was mostly winding down. Not so much now it seems! It makes me wonder how this all ties in what the NX is and what Nintendo’s plans are for it… it’s all very intriguing to me.
I agree, very intriguing indeed. And the fact that the 3DS can apparently house full WiiU games? See yoshi’s wooly world!
Glad you had a great holiday! Thanks for sharing all of the pictures too! The 3DS Direct was very exciting for me, and I am pretty much looking forward to every game they had. As someone who loves the handheld, I enjoyed the Nintendo Direct!
