Meet Shawn
Hi all, I’m Shawn Daisy Churchill! I’m a 33 year old nonbinary human who is mainly drawn to video games because of their creativity, story, themes, representation, and how fun they are. Video games remain an interactive special form of escapism no other existing medium provides. They can be used as a wonderful teaching tool regarding other cultures and relevant topics too. Or they’re an enjoyable experience alone, with friends, family, and one’s chosen family.
My sister introduced me to the NES through Super Mario Bros. Since then Nintendo systems have become a predominant fixture in my life: from the original Gameboy to the current Switch. I have especially fond memories going against my brother and comrades in the Pokemon, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Party franchises.
Some of my favorite games are Mega Man 3, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong’s Quest, Banjo-Tooie, Luigi’s Mansion, Captain Toad: Treasure Hunter, Elite Beat Agents, Dropsy, Severed, Hatsune Miku Project Mirai, and Celeste.
