Handheld gaming news wk 1

Welcome, ready for a new batch of weekly handheld gaming news items in 2017? Of course, I’ll pore you a cup of nice coffee while we chat about gaming. Or tea, should you want to!

The Holidays are over, back to work and back to the normal routine. We had a lovely couple of days visiting London last week. Been there several times before, but to me, it never gets old. It’s crazy busy of course, so many tourists everywhere you go. We make our way across the Tower Bridge every day, to walk from our hotel to the nearest tube station, Tower Hill. You can hardly make your way across without dodging groups of people, taking pictures and enjoying themselves immensely. Most of them have a look of wonder on their faces, awed at the beautiful and iconic sights across the Thames. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a city that makes me feel so alive!

The new Sherlock series is here!

When we are in London we love to go hunting for film locations of Sherlock. Because this awesome series is inextricably linked to the city. We’ve been to Barth’s hospital, from where Sherlock jumped down in the episode The Reichenbach Fall. We’ve see the ambulance station, making it impossible for John Watson to see that Sherlock did’t die at all.

And when we got home just before New Years Day, we were ready: episode 1 of series 4, the Six Thatchers was aired on the BBC on January 1st. Have you see it? I won’t spoil anything, but we were really flabbergasted when it ended after 1,5 hours of breathless watching. Well, not really breathless of course, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this. Can’t wait for the second episode this upcoming Sunday!

Nintendo Switch presentation on January 12

The rumours have been flying around the internet, every speculation about the new console Nintendo Switch seems to make the headlines. Soon, we will know more though, as Nintendo will be hosting an event next week to give us some more info. We already do know the console will be available in March, but I hope we will have much more news after the presentation. Some people are lucky enough to have been invited for some hands-on time with the console.

The presentation will be hosted in the Nintendo World Store too, in New York, and the first 250 people to get in the Store will be able to try the system for themselves. As a reminder, the presentation will be at 8pm Pacific / 11pm Eastern on 12th January, which is 4am UK / 5am CET / 1pm Tokyo / 3pm AEDT on 13th January.

Harvest Moon celebrates 20 years in 2017

In a New Year message posted to Facebook by the CEO of Natsume – Hiro Maekawa, he told us that The Harvest Moon series will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Natsume promises that there will be “few surprises” in store, also adding that they hope that new and old fans will celebrate with them. To remind you, Natsume recently released Harvest Moon – SkyTree Village for the 3DS. I’m looking forward to see what he means by surprises. It did remind me that maybe I should give the game another good look!

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World cuteness

By now you probably know my aversion to platformer games, but every time I see a new video for this upcoming game, I melt a little. This is so darned cute!

Super Mario Run Super Guide

Super Mario Run seems to be a success when it comes to downloads, but few people want to shell out the full price to get all levels. I do know however that some of my friends and colleagues that aren’t your typical gamers, are really enjoying it. So, I thought it nice to include a link to Gamezebo’s Super Guide for all the tips!

That’s it for this week! Writing about my favorite games of 2016 a couple of weeks back I got an itch to check back into Atelier Sophie & the Mysterious Book. And I’ve enjoyed the game immensely again since then, playing every moment I can.

What are you playing at the moment? Still enjoying Super Mario Run or Pokémon Go? Or are you still enthralled by the Alola adventures in Pokémon Sun or Moon? Or are you playing something different altogether?

Thanks for the nice chat, and have a great gaming weekend!
