Hello there, my dear Patron! Nice to see you here in this first Newsletter for 2021 LadiesGamers.com.
With our Patreon efforts being fairly new, we are still finding out how to bring the benefits to you in the best way. You may have been expecting another PDF format, but we decided, as all the other Patron-only article are straight on the site, to do it differently. The NewsLetters will be here on the site and will once again be a weekly event in future.
Of course, since the last NewsLetter went out, two weeks have flown by. So this one will look back at all that happened on the site since then, starting January 3rd of 2021 until January 17th of 2021.
So if you haven’t had time to read in the past weeks, here’s all that was published, all wrapped in a nice package. So get yourself a cup of coffee (or tea of course), kick back and enjoy!
Reviews
At the start of this year, we reviewed 10 games. A slow start, but then that’s usual the case in January. Everyone seems to be slowly waking up after the holidays!
I’ll take you through the games that got our highest praise of Two Thumbs Up. And the games that scored an I Like it a Lot. There was something there that didn’t make it worth our best rating, but these are still true gems. If you like the genre, we’d like to say: go for it. And even if it’s not a sort of game you often play, maybe this one will work well for you!
Quite a few games scored an I Like it. Nice games, especially if you are a fan of the genre. Depending on the price and the length of the game, it may be a good idea to try these. This time, no games scored lower then this!
Two Thumbs Up
Scott Pilgrim VS The World: The Game Complete Edition Review
Action Fighting (US $14.99 | UK £ 11.99 | EU € 14,99)
Heather: I love this game a lot especially as a fan of the source material of which both the movie and the graphic novels get their time in the sun in terms of references. I really had an amazing and fun time playing through the game. This is a game I wholeheartedly recommend to fans of Scott Pilgrim and even people who like beat-em-ups and retro-style action games.

Down in Bermuda Review
Puzzle Adventure (US $19.99 | UK £19.99)
Paula: I’ve throughly enjoyed the puzzles in Down in Bermuda, there are just the right kind of difficulty. Enough of a challenge to give you a feeling of satisfaction once you have completed them. Hunting down the orbs is entertaining as you search everywhere for all of them. And for that, I give it our highest praise!

We Like it a Lot
Iris.Fall Review
Puzzle Adventure ( USD $19.99 | UK £15.29 | EU €16,99 )
Paula: Though it isn’t the first time we have the transition between the 3D world and 2D worlds in a game before, it works well as does the play on light, dark and shadows! Depending on your puzzle skills you may find the puzzles easy enough to solve. There isn’t much help from the game in solving the puzzle themselves which could make the game more difficult and a frustrating experience for those not used to the genre.
Iris.Fall offers a good variety of brain teasers to solve, which are well-designed and present an enjoyable experience for any puzzle gamer.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales Review (PC)
Strategy Card Game RPG (USD $19.99 | UK £16.99 | EU € 19,99)
Elena: Thronebreaker promises over 30 hours of content, very meaty for a humble mini-game that’s morphed into a full title. And it’s more than a mere card game. The stellar writing and voice-acting, on top of the tough moral choices, make an otherwise niche game worthy of attention beyond Witcher fans and Gwent players, though gameplay-wise it wouldn’t appeal to a wide audience.
I meant to buy Thronebreaker for the Nintendo Switch, but a nice deal on Steam swayed me to the PC version. Comparing the mouse against controller, I found it just as easy to use a controller for this game. So, controls-wise, I expect the Switch port to be a comfortable experience as well.

Double Dragon Neon Review
Fighting Platfomer (US $14.99)
James: Double Dragon Neon is a surprisingly deep brawler that is very tough to play alone but excels if you’re able to enjoy it in co-op. The upgrade system feels a tad too grindy but with an excellent soundtrack I found it very difficult to put this game down.
If somehow you missed this back in 2012 then the Switch version is a very welcome addition to any brawler fans collection. It’s also hilarious and lord knows we all need a good laugh these days.

We Like it
Fatal Fury First Contact Review
Fighting Action (US $7.99 | UK £7.19 | EU €7,99)
Heather: Fatal Fury First Contact is a neat and enjoyable little fighting game to play if you want to experience something more Retro. I also gotta admire and like the fact that SNK releases these various classic games from their library of games which is especially good for preservation.
These games may fetch high prices on the original hardware, for 7 or 8 bucks you can play them on the Switch. If you are an SNK fan that is collecting these re-releases digitally. You’re in for a fun time!

Professor Lupo: Ocean Review
Puzzle Adventure ( US $4.99 | UK £3.99 | EU $3,99 )
Paula: Professor Lupo: Ocean is a fun puzzle game overall. There is a nice logic that goes into the puzzles and the levels are fairly well designed.
For new newcomers and those returning to the series you’ll find engaging puzzle gameplay if you can forgive the frustrating controls.

Stardash Review
Action Arcade ( US $9.99 | UK £7.99 | EU €9,99 )
James: Stardash is a simple run to the right and finish platformer. The journey to get there will be tough. You may want to throw your Switch or joy cons at times so if you don’t like that sort of stress probably best to avoid this one.
The Gameboy nods are cool but the game doesn’t fundamentally do a lot to stand out from the crowd in its genre. It’s the definition of what I’ve come to call a coffee game. Something to sit down and play in small bursts, just be careful not to throw your Switch across the room.

Charge Kid Review
Puzzle Platformer ( US $2.49 | UK £1.79 | EU €1,99 )
James: Charge Kid may have a simple graphical design but its design its quite unique if you’re looking for a good head-scratcher and have the reflexes to match. This is not a game that will appeal to everyone but at a cheap price point, it may be worth a try if you’re looking for something different.

Ghostanoid Review
Action Arcade ( US $6.99 | UK £6.29 | EU €6,97)
Paula: Ghostanoid is a fun game to play in short play bursts, advisable if you don’t want to end up throwing your Switch into the corner! There is enough content to keep you busy for quite a few hours. At the lower price point in the eShop those that are fans of the genre will find a pleasant game to spent some time with.

Remembering Brian “BriBri” Cooper
We all “know” people on internet that we actually don’t know in real life, but they feel like friends anyway. Brian is such an online friend, he will be missed. At first I hesitated to make a dedication for him when I heard of his passing. But thinking back, such good and fond memories came to mind. And the thought that he would never check his beloved Animal Crossing Pocket Camp again decided it for me.
