Upcoming Switch Games June 2024
Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge – June 8th

Kamaeru is a cosy farming sim about collecting and raising frogs, farming, and preserving nature. You play as a kind soul helping an old friend restore the wetlands of your childhood by transforming them into a safe haven for friendly little frogs. With the help of the game’s cast of welcoming NPCs, you will photograph and breed frogs to increase your reputation, decorate your refuge, and plant native crops to help your amphibian abode thrive!
Margaret reviewed Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge on Steam and said this in her conclusion:
Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge blends its real-world science with a method of show-don’t tell that makes it less intimidating than Apico, a game which I adored and which also reminded me how much I’d forgotten from my science classes so many decades ago. It’s also committed to a soft, comfy aesthetic that, even if you’ve never looked at frogs as cute before, this game will teach you why so many people just love froggies.
I think my only silly quibble is the lack of audible ‘ribbits;’ just give me a vague background cacophony of happy, croaky little noises. It’s possible it’s something I’ll find as I get even deeper into the game! But that’s so minor and specific to me and isn’t a real complaint at all. The prettiness of this game and its lack of interest in stressing you about time is going to make it a soothing experience for a lot of people. The only way in this game is forward, but at the pace you choose. Pick up and play, or hyper-focus on it; it’s all entirely up to you! The frogs will love you to bits no matter what.
Rocket Knight Adventure: Re-Sparked – June 11th

- SPARKSTER
Hidden Cats in Paris – June 13th

Meow meow meow mes amis! Cats, kittens, kitties and other fuzzballs are hidden all around the Parisian landscape, each waiting to be found!
Take a relaxing stroll around Paris – every cat you spot brings its unique splash of colour into the scenery, and finding them all will fill the city with life!
We generally love the Hidden Cats games; this was the first one we reviewed on Steam. Petrus wrote in his review:
The music and sound effects add to the atmosphere of the game, with some peaceful acoustic guitar or accordion playing in the background at the street level. This is replaced with bird-song and church bells as you move to the roofs or higher. Cats also periodically meow once you have found a few.
Monster Hunter Stories – June 14th

Monster Hunter Stories is an RPG that takes the world of Monster Hunter and expands upon it in new and exciting ways! No longer are you hunting monsters but raising them! In this deep story featuring heroes known as Monster Riders, you will live alongside monsters and form lifelong bonds with them. The first instalment of the Monster Hunter Stories series returns, fully voiced in Japanese and English, with additional features such as a new museum mode where you can listen to music and view concept art, allowing you to dive even deeper into the world of Monster Hunter Stories.
The second game was on Switch already, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. This first one was released on the 3DS originally!
Ylands – June 20th

In the low-poly universe of Ylands you will explore, sail, craft, build, and enjoy the light survival elements.
On your own fully customizable ship, you will traverse six distinct regions, each filled with unique fauna, flora, and random encounters that keep the adventure fresh and exciting. Ylands empowers players to make use of thousands of items to craft and build with, progressing through a comprehensive tech tree that adds depth and variety to the gameplay. To make it less overwhelming, Ylands gently onboards players by recruiting them to the Classy Adventurers Guild, where they embark on an incredible journey, armed with their trusty handbook, and sail towards endless adventures.
Ylands has been available on Steam for some years as a free to download game multiplayer game, with packs you can buy. What makes the Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition version of the game unique, is that it will be available as a single-player offline game, which offers the popular Adventure and Creative game modes to cater to different play styles.
Anni reviewed Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition and had this to say in her conclusion:
Ylands had me feeling eager for a thrilling adventure survivalist simulator, but unfortunately, it left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. While the realism of the survival aspect was impressive, the clunky camera and controls, along with the counterintuitive menus, made me wish I was playing something else. However, if you’re looking for a less blocky version of Minecraft with a strong focus on survival, then Ylands might be the perfect game for you. Even though it wasn’t the right fit for me, I can see the potential for others to enjoy the challenging gameplay and immersive survival experience Ylands has to offer.
Everafter Falls – June 20th

Paula reviewed Everafter Falls and said this in her conclusion:
If you like games with a lot of collecting, community events and busy work, then Everafter Falls will be the game for you; it’s a heartwarming escape into a world where simplicity and friendship reign supreme. The blend of farming, fishing, and fighting, coupled with innovative mechanics like card-eating and supportive drones and your handy pet, creates a refreshing and engaging gameplay experience. Whether you’re playing solo or with a friend, Everafter Falls is a charming village and a place you’ll want to return to time and time again.
Mouse & Crane – June 21st

Adapted for children aged 4-7, the game features three best friends, Mouse, Crane and Electryna, who love to search for new tools and scraps they can use to build amazing things. Created in a hand-drawn and collage art style reminiscent of cozy picture books, it presents a harbor populated with surprising creatures such as the scrapcrabs and the bobcat kittens, but also yummy “mousemallows”.
The SOLO adventure is suitable for young children on their own thanks to specific accessibility features. It doesn’t require knowing how to read and can be played with a touch screen. With short gameplay stages that enable trial and error, Mouse & Crane befits different skill and experience levels.
James reviewed Mouse & Crane and said this in his conclusion:
Mouse & Crane certainly does a good job appealing to its target audience. Excellent voice acting and a warm-hearted story which is warm and uplifting will hopefully capture their attention. The gameplay, though simple, feels engaging enough to exercise those little brains. The experience certainly feels most fitting to be played with a parent (even in single-player). Consider picking this up for your 4-7-year-old, and who knows, maybe this will create a warm memory for the two of you to cherish for years to come.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD – June 27th

Join the faint-of-heart hero Luigi on a spooky quest in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD for Nintendo Switch.
In this visually enhanced adventure, you’ll visit the chilling locales of the eerie Evershade Valley, a place where, until recently, the peculiar Dark Moon hung in the sky. According to ghost researcher Professor E.Gadd, it pacified the ghosts of the valley…that is until one night when the Dark Moon mysteriously shattered!
Now, the place is screaming and teeming with troublemaking ghosts! Can Luigi recover the missing pieces of the Dark Moon and restore peace to the valley?
Radiant Tale -Fanfare!- June 27th

An unlikely group of performers makes a last-ditch effort to reform a failing circus: a crazy dragon, a sombre clown, a hesitant magician, an acrobat who can’t entertain, and a reluctant ringleader.
Radiant Tale introduced Tifalia, a bright new producer who does her best to turn this dysfunctional troupe around and make them stars.
Radiant Tale -Fanfare!- contains three all-new play modes with fresh stories and new routes with two side characters, enhancing the complete adventure!
Caroline reviewed Radiant Tale -Fanfare!, and said this in her conclusion:
Radiant Tale -Fanfare!- is a tough one to give a verdict on. I enjoyed playing the game and liked all the stories it provided us with. But it is difficult to say yes or no based on the price. If you loved and enjoyed the original Radiant Tale or would just like to add the fan disk to the collection, then yeah, I would say go for it. You won’t be disappointed. I should mention, that I fall into the first category, I loved and enjoyed the original. But if you did not love the original game to begin with, then I would advise passing this one because it is a bit too short.
Tchia – June 27th

Join Tchia on her tropical open-world adventure as she sets off to rescue her father from the cruel tyrant, Meavora, ruler of the archipelago. Climb, glide, swim, and sail your boat around beautiful islands as you explore a physics-driven sandbox. Face the fabric soldiers created by Meavora in open encounters where your creativity gives you the edge. Take control of any animal or object you can find, make new friends and jam on your fully playable Ukulele. A poetic coming-of-age story inspired by New Caledonia.
Paula recently reviewed Tchia on Steam, writing in her conclusion:
Tchia is a love story of the New Caledonia region and its people. The gameplay is fun and pretty satisfying, with many quests for the player to complete and collectables to find. The soul mechanic sets you up for some very weird and interesting solutions to puzzles or circumstances in Tchia, and it’s my favourite thing about the game. If exploring a beautiful island is your thing, too, you will enjoy playing this game.
