CLeM – February 6th

Upcoming switch games February

CLeM is a narrative-driven puzzle adventure game with a dark twist. Wake up in a world where puzzles intertwine with exploration, weaving a unique narrative rooted in alchemy. A voice awakens you. It gives you purpose. To guide you, you find a notebook with mysterious entries and a house to explore.

Paula reviewed CLeM and said this in her conclusion:

All in all, I had a good time playing CLeM, and I liked reading about and checking out the drawings on alchemy, insects, and other creepy crawlies in the notebook. The house is full of interactive environments to explore. If you enjoy these types of adventure games, then CLeM has a desolate, abandoned house to explore and lots of questions to answer with mysteries to decipher, and you, too, can find out the story behind CLeM.

Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II – February 15th

When rumours circulate about supernatural occurrences at the famed Konoehara Academy in Tokyo’s H City, it’s up to the head of the Kujou family, also known as the “Spirit Doctor,” to take on the case.

Notices that announce people’s deaths and students who aren’t what they seem. Through your investigation, it appears that a spirit called “The Departed” is the mastermind behind it all, and it looks like it wants something from you…

This entry introduces a new side-scrolling function when travelling across different locations and a first-person perspective during investigations. Be aware that though this title has a PEGI rating of 16 in Europe, it has an M rating in the US.

Caroline reviewed Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II and said this in her conclusion;

Although I’ve told you how good Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II is, I do want to say that while I loved exploring a new genre in the VN world, I don’t think that this will become my new favourite genre. Playing the game at night was difficult as my “scared” emotion would be triggered in the dark. If this is something you feel that you can handle, then pick Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II. It’s a great game on many levels.

PlateUp! – February 15th

Cook and serve your dishes, design and decorate your restaurants, and expand your culinary kingdom with new unlocks, abilities and dishes in procedurally-generated locations. Classic cooking action with permanent rogue-lite progression. Hire your friends, or do it all yourself!

Fit My Cat – February 16th

Imagine a cardboard box. Is it shaped to fit one to two fluffy felines? What about five? What about twenty?

Fit My Cat presents you with many cute kitties that all wish to sit where they deem fit. That being said, we’re running out of space, and we are seriously looking for a cat organizer. If you could spare a moment or two to make that happen, we would be grateful.

Every single one of them is trained and well-equipped for some spatial management – pick them up and rotate them as you see fit. Just so you’re aware, some boxes might come with yarn balls or entire cathouses – but that will not prevent those spunky kitties from trying to get inside.

Lottie reviewed Fit My Cat and said this in her conclusion:

Fit My Cat is a visually charming game which would be perfect for a cat lover. The controls to select a cat felt unresponsive and became frustrating, which hindered my interest in the game. Fit My Cat isn’t a particularly difficult game, but it is probably more suited for younger gamers with an interest in visual puzzles and cats. A cheaper title within the Switch’s game library, it could pass a couple of hours of an afternoon. If you want a less intense puzzle game, you can pick up Fit My Cat here.

qomp 2 – February 20th

Control a Pong ball aching to break free of its life stuck between two paddles. Explore a dangerous, minimalist world armed with simple two-button controls: tap a button to change direction diagonally by 45 degrees, and hold down a button to unleash a cathartic dash forward. That’s all you need to solve environmental puzzles and labyrinthine levels. Around each corner is a new challenge that will test your two-button and problem-solving skills. A variety of difficult enemies and bosses help you mark your time as you navigate through 30 levels spread across four worlds. A cerebral puzzler lies within the heart of this indie twist on Pong.

James reviewed qomp2 and said this in his conclusion:

Qomp2 is a pretty good puzzle adventure. The simple controls certainly make for an enjoyable experience that puzzle fans will enjoy in small bursts, maybe after a long day at work or before bed.

I’ll be honest: the gameplay didn’t fully click for me. I often found it frustrating to get my ball to head just the right way, and while the gameplay has that Zen-like feel to it, I found the quick deaths quite frustrating towards the end of the game. I did, however, like the reworking of the Pong formula and creating an entire game from the simple concept of a ball escaping. All in all, Qomp2 is a unique puzzler, and any game that attempts something original is good in my book.

Promenade – February 21st

The Great Elevator has been broken, and its cogs have been scattered all around the world! Travel the world with your poulp using a dynamic move set to find all the cogs, interact with colourful characters and solve puzzles.

Explore dungeons and face the bosses that dwell there. Use different objects and their properties to your advantage. Collect the lost cogs, repair the Great Elevator and unlock new levels in this collectathon directly inspired by 3D platformers.

James reviewed Promenade and said this in his conclusion:

Promenade successfully recaptures that additive collectable gameplay in 2D form. Once I started collecting, I just found I couldn’t stop. The game may borrow ideas from other platformers. I feel it certainly adds enough personality to stand on its own. This is thanks to varied level design and its charming graphical design. Promenade falls a little short in some areas.

Controls can be unforgiving in some of the tougher platform segments, and some of the ideas introduced in the game, like stealth, don’t always click. But despite these flaws, I found myself eager to explore the levels, finding as many cogs as I could. I highly recommend Promenade to any platforming fan or those looking for a positive gaming experience.

Paula reviewed Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story and gave it our highest score:

In Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story, there’s always a task to tackle, keeping gameplay engaging with constant goals and amusing conversations. Although it relies heavily on fetch quests, Bandle Tale’s progression layers and delightful dialogue guarantee it stays captivating and cosy throughout.

Inkulinati – February 22nd

Inkulinati LadiesGamers

Inkulinati is an ink-based strategy game straight from medieval manuscripts, where a rabbit’s bum can be deadlier than a dog’s sword.

Take your turn in Inkulinati duels filled with unexpected tactical depth (and humour!). Embark on an ever-changing journey, build your own bestiary, defeat medieval superstars and collect perks to unleash special powers. Become a master of the Living Ink, grab your quill and build your unique strategy time after time so that you can be named the greatest Inkulinati of all time!

Paula already reviewed the game on Steam and gave it our highest rating of Two Thumbs Up.

Inkulinati is a delightfully different take on the turn-based strategy genre. It’s a game that is as unique in its visuals and illustrations as it is in its weird (nice weird) and interesting gameplay. One that I recommend you try out if you watch out for the deadly snails that eat units and tiny-Inkulinati alive.

Sympathy Kiss – February 27th

About a year has passed since Akari Amasawa started her new job as a designer at Estario, a mobile app maker. While she doesn’t dislike her job, she’s not deeply passionate about it either. After her yearly performance review, she was given the opportunity to join the Estarci team.

The company’s namesake app, Estarci, is a news app that made a big splash when it launched but has since fallen behind rival apps, including apps run by Estario itself. Management has decided to give the app one last chance before shutting it down for good, and Akari and all of her new co-workers will need to give it their all to save the app from the chopping block.

Will Akari find true love? Will she find what it is she wants to do in life? Will the app get shut down? Wait, was Akari only given this opportunity because the company was looking for an excuse to fire her?!

Business and pleasure mix in Sympathy Kiss, a thrilling office romance and slice-of-life drama!

Caroline reviewed Sympathy Kiss and said this in her conclusion:

Sympathy Kiss has great aesthetics, lots of interesting story topics and an overall easygoing vibe. If you love those things just like I do, definitely pick this one up.

I reviewed Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons and gave it our highest score:

There are two conditions for someone to enjoy Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons. First, you have to like nonogram puzzles. Second, it helps if you are a fan of Story of Seasons.

If these conditions apply to you, as they do for me, you can’t get a better nonogram puzzle experience than in Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons.
